About

Leo Harvin's journey from a Baltimore city youth, to military honor, to the heights of real estate investing, is a tale of resilience, discipline, and strategic foresight. Born in Baltimore and raised under the guidance of his mother, Leo's earlier years were marked by frequent moves; from Maryland, to Arizona, Germany, Delaware, and then returning back to Maryland. Despite the challenges of adjusting to new environments, these experiences shaped him into the adaptable and driven individual he is today.

Military Beginnings

Leo's academic struggles in his teenage years didn't define his future. After stalling in 9th grade, he made a decisive move to join The Maryland Freestate Challenge Academy, a youth military program out of Aberdeen, MD. There he not only earned his high school diploma but graduated a year ahead of his peers.

At 17, Leo enlisted in the U.S. Air Force, quickly distinguishing himself by completing basic training as an Honor Graduate. He served as an aircraft electrical and environmental systems specialist;  8 years on active duty, and 5 years with the Georgia Air National Guard. During his time, he completed a two year assignment in Italy and several tours throughout Kuwait and Qatar, before being Honorably Discharged in 2012.

Educational Achievements

Parallel to his military and investing careers, Leo pursued higher education with vigor. In 2003, he earned an Associate's in Aviation Maintenance Technology, from The Community College of The Air Force. He coupled that with an Associate's Degree (summa cum laude) from Georgia Military College, in 2007, and a Bachelor’s (cum laude) from Mercer University, in 2011; both in Business Administration.

Transitioning to Real Estate

In 2003, a business mentor turned Leo onto daily reading. One of the first titles he handed him was Rich Dad Poor Dad… And thus began his venture into real estate investing. He launched his journey by acquiring a single family home, which he still currently holds.

Seeing the massive opportunity, during The Great Financial Crisis, he immersed himself heavily into obtaining real world knowledge from those who had already walked the path he had chosen. A new segment in real estate was unveiled to him, mobile homes. In 2009, and shortly after acquiring +25 units, he was able to leave the workforce and pursue his passion full time. He smoothly transitioned back into single-family homes, as he curated a talent for negotiating deals by means of Creative Financing. His real estate portfolio expanded rapidly as he applied his military discipline to his new endeavor.

In 2022, as the markets started to shift, due to rapidly rising interest rates, Leo saw an opportunity opening in the Multifamily Real Estate sector; a niche he had been studying since 2017.  In November of 2023, he joined a syndication group, as a limited partner, for his first apartment acquisition, in San Antonio, TX. He has since invested in other projects and spends his time broadening his network, expanding his knowledge of the real estate industry, and sharpening his contrarian investing philosophy.
